Firodland represents the Southwest corner of the South Island of New Zealand.  It is where the Southern Alps meet the sea and a collision zone of two major tectonic plates.  Thus the high mountains and deep narrow ocean inlets.  This was yet another jaw dropping experience to be had in NZ!
